Cold Dew, a solar term that reflects weather change, is the 17th of the year and the 5th of autumn. After this solar term, the weather throughout China is generally cool. The temperature gap between day and night is larger, and the air is getting crisper.

Since ancient times, Chinese people pay special attention to health preservation at this time. Cold Dew brings a good time for drinking chrysanthemum tea to warm our bodies up, along with the custom of appreciating chrysanthemum. In addition, some areas in China have the custom of eating sesame cake to moisten and nourish our bodies.

Today’s poster is selected from a painting by Huang Shanshou, a painter of the Qing Dynasty. In the painting, chrysanthemums of three colors bloom, interspersed with blue lake stones.
