The Echo of Sage: The "Dashengyiyin" Guqin

Crafted in 756 AD during the Tang Dynasty, the "Dashengyiyin"（大圣遗音） is a legendary Shennong-style guqin housed in the Palace Museum. Measuring 120.3 cm in length, its highly resonant soundboard is constructed from golden-hued paulownia wood. The body is coated in an archaic chestnut-brown lacquer, displaying natural serpentine and delicate ox-hair crackle patterns formed over centuries.

Acoustically, it adheres strictly to classical standards, featuring a round "Dragon Pool" and an oval "Phoenix Marsh" soundhole. A slightly raised sound-amplifying node nayin(纳音) produces its distinctive, lingering timbre. The instrument's exquisite craftsmanship is further highlighted by radiant gold markers, refined rosewood components, and antique celadon jade tuning pegs adorned with sunflower motifs and bright yellow silk tassels.
