Shanghai, the host city of the ongoing 4th China International Import Expo, boasts an impressive mix of the traditional and the cosmopolitan. Of the many legendary buildings in the Bund, the Peace Hotel is among the most storied. Situated at one end of Nanjing Pedestrian Street, it was one of the first modern buildings completed in Shanghai. It survived World War II, experienced the liberation of Shanghai and hosted some important historical peace talks.
Entering the hotel through its oak revolving door and standing beneath the old bronze chandelier is like a trip back in time.
