The Gin Game: 14 Hands of Cards, One Lifetime
The Beijing People's Art Theatre's acclaimed production of the classic Broadway play The Gin Game will be staged at the Cao Yu Theatre from March 31 to April 18.
The profound comedy centers on two lonely, divorced elderly residents, Weller and Fonsia, living in a nursing home. Through fourteen hands of a card game, the play deeply explores their psychological struggles, past regrets, and the universal fear of aging.
Directed by Tang Ye and starring veteran actors Pu Cunxin and Gong Lijun, this minimalist masterpiece uses just two characters, a table, and two chairs to deliver a humorous yet heartbreaking reflection on the true meaning of life.
