Exhibition charts painter's five-decade art journey

Chinese landscape painting artist Shi Pu's solo exhibition opens at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on Saturday.
Chinese landscape painting artist Shi Pu opened a solo exhibition, Keep Pure Authenticity, at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on Saturday, displaying more than 100 representative works of painting and calligraphy.
Hosted by the Shaanxi Artists Association, the exhibition runs through to Aug 12. The opening ceremony was joined by dozens of representatives from art organizations, artists and scholars. A seminar was held on the same day, where experts discussed the creative vision behind Shi's works.

"This exhibition presented works I created over the past decade or so. I stepped on a journey of traditional Chinese painting from the early 1970s. Now, some 50 years have flown past," Shi Pu said in his speech.
"To present my works to the public at the National Art Museum of China has been a dream of mine. I've incorporated my thoughts into my works and communicate with the viewers through them. I will take the anticipation of viewers as motivation and dedicate my whole life to China's fine arts."

Commenting on the exhibition, Pan Yikui, director of the National Art Museum of China, said that Shi Pu shows a deep commitment to traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy.
"His works are rooted in the soil of Chinese art, presenting the sublime landscape and infused with his love for his homeland," Pan says.
