Outdoor cinema and food fair liven up Huairou Guochao Culture Festival

An outdoor cinema and food fair is held on Saturday at the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel by the Yanqi Lake, a landmark in Beijing's Huairou district.

As a key event of Huairou Guochao Culture Festival, an outdoor cinema and food fair was held on Saturday at the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel by the Yanqi Lake, a landmark in Beijing's Huairou district.

Hosted by Huairou district's bureau of culture and tourism and co-organized by Poly Film Investment, the event aims to boost regional culture and tourism, by merging experiences including live performances, food tasting and film screenings.

The Legend of Hei 2, an animation film released around a month ago, was screened at the event. Tang Bohui, general manager of Poly Film Investment, discussed with producer of the film Cao Zijian on ways to balance traditional culture with contemporary aesthetics, technological advancement with emotional expressions in Chinese animations.

Nearly 30 food stalls were set up at the food market, featuring representative bread brands from around Beijing, as well as popular pastries and street snacks.

A 48-hour video contest was also launched, that invited citizens to capture local scenery and festival highlights during the weekend, submit their videos on social media and compete for prizes.

The Huairou Guochao Culture Festival centers on merging traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern technology and aesthetics. The district plans to introduce more events that promote films, regional characteristics and Chinese culture.
