Western Canvas, Eastern Soul - Peking Opera Oil Painting Exhibition

Hosted by the Beijing Overseas Cultural Exchange Center, the "Hues of Beijing Opera" exhibition is currently running at the Di'anmen Cultural Experience Center from April 8 to May 31.

Featuring 25 masterpieces by Central Academy of Fine Arts professor Wang Qijun, the exhibition brilliantly uses Western oil painting techniques to capture the timeless elegance and spirit of Peking Opera's dan (female) roles. This unique approach creates a stunning cross-cultural dialogue, beautifully interpreting traditional Chinese aesthetic charm through a Western artistic medium.

Beyond the breathtaking static paintings, visitors can also immerse themselves in dynamic intangible cultural heritage (ICH) experiences on-site. From traditional painted-sculpture masks to intricate dough figurines of opera characters, the event offers a perfect, immersive rendezvous for both art lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
