A Dream of the Tang Dynasty - May Day Hanfu Festival in Shenzhen

Known as "Shenzhen's Little Forbidden City," Wenbo Palace is hosting a spectacular traditional-style festival from May 1 to May 10. Featuring magnificent architecture spanning seven Chinese dynasties, the venue offers the ultimate time-traveling experience for this May Day holiday.

The absolute highlight falls on May 1 and 2 with a massive Hanfu model competition, where contestants will showcase the stunning elegance of traditional Chinese attire. On May 4, visitors can also witness the heroic Yingge Dance, a national intangible cultural heritage that seamlessly combines martial arts and rhythmic drumming against the backdrop of historic red walls.

Throughout the festival, a vibrant 10-day ancient-style market will offer traditional handicrafts, vintage treasures, and delicious local snacks. We highly recommend visiting in the late afternoon wearing your own Hanfu to capture breathtaking photos in the soft sunset light. The event is completely free with no reservation required.
