Jiuzhaigou is located in Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is located in the transition zone from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, West Sichuan Plateau and mountains to Sichuan Basin, more than 300 kilometers south of Chengdu City. It is a depth of more than 50 kilometers of valleys, a total area of 64,297 hectares, forest coverage rate of more than 80%. Because there are nine Tibetan villages such as Shuzheng Village, Heye Village and Zechawa Village located in this mountain lake group, it got its name.

There is a wide difference in height, diverse climate, beautiful mountains and rivers, green trees in the gully, the reflection of the lake, forests and waterfalls, beautiful scenery, rare in the world, known as the "fairy tale world".

Jiuzhaigou is also a World Natural Heritage Site, a national key scenic area, a national nature reserve, a national Geopark, and a World network of Biosphere reserves. It is the first nature reserve in China whose main purpose is to protect natural scenery.
