Solar Terms Wellness: Summer Solstice (Xiazhi)
On the Summer Solstice (Xiazhi) (around June 21st or 22nd), the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer, bringing the longest day of the year to the Northern Hemisphere. However, the hottest weather has not yet arrived as heat continues to accumulate near the ground.
Health Tips
The real "roasting" test begins after Xiazhi. To manage mood swings caused by the weather, practice the He (呵) sound from the Six-Healing-Sounds Qigong. Open your mouth slightly, press your tongue against the lower teeth, and exhale while saying "He". Simultaneously, lift your palms from your abdomen to your eyes, then lower them. Repeat this 6 times per set.
