Tibetan wool weaving is best known for its Bangdian aprons and Kadian puff mats. Gyantse Town (often called Jetsaor Gyantse) in Shannan Region, Xizang, is the traditional center of Bangdian production, celebrated as the Hometown of Bangdian, with a weaving history exceeding 1,000 years. According to legend, the Tibetan pulu cloth worn by Princess Wencheng was produced here. Today, nearly every household in Gyantse weaves Bangdian, which are exported extensively to South Asia and Europe.

Kadian weaving is centered in Gyangze County, Shigatse, historically renowned for producing kadians. Gyangze kadians are often ranked alongside Turkish and Persian rugs. The craft dates back to the 11th century and is famous for its distinctive motifs, vivid colors, and soft, highquality wool fabrics. In the early 20th century, British merchants established weaving workshops in Gyangze and began exporting these mats to Europe.

These crafts represent a thousand-year-old Tibetan tradition, holding immense artistic and cultural significance.
