Classic Stage Play "Teahouse"

The Beijing People's Art Theatre's crowning jewel, the classic stage play Teahouse, makes its highly anticipated return to the Capital Theatre from March 17 to March 27.

Written by literary giant Lao She, the three-act masterpiece uses the Yutai Teahouse as a microcosm to depict half a century of Chinese historical turbulence. It captures the struggles and societal shifts of everyday people across the late Qing Dynasty, the Warlord Era, and the post-WWII period.

This ongoing run features a star-studded veteran cast, including Liang Guanhua, Pu Cunxin, Yang Lixin, and Feng Yuanzheng. Through their masterful performances, the play vividly restores the authentic atmosphere of old Beijing, continuing the theatre's legacy of preserving traditional Chinese dramatic arts.
