Introduction of Woodblock Printing

Passed down from the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the woodblock printing process mainly comprises delineation by color, block cutting and printing, which ensures the works stay true to the original ones.


Based on archaeological findings, woodblock printing in China emerged in the Tang Dynasty and was used to print Buddhist scriptures and images for a long time. In May 2006, woodblock printing was officially included in the first China intangible cultural heritage list approved by the State Council.


Let’s enter the beautiful world of this particular craft with a history of nearly a thousand years.
