A group of international tourists began a two-day cultural tour of Tiantai Mountain, in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on Friday.
It marked the inauguration of the Thousands of International Friends to Tiantai Mountain program, which was launched by local authorities to boost inbound tourism.
As part of the event, a 90-square-meter exhibition was held at the Yiwu International Expo Center to showcase local cultural tourism products, such as Tiantai Wuyao (medicinal herbs), Jigong Family Liquor and Huading Tea.
With a history spanning over 1,800 years, Tiantai offers breathtaking natural landscapes, and a distinctive local lifestyle.
Tiantai's Guoqing Temple has drawn pilgrims from various countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
Innovative travel experiences, such as educational tours and Zen hiking retreats, are developed to introduce international visitors to the richness of Eastern philosophy.
Local authorities plan to introduce more themed tours for visitors from abroad.
For travelers from Europe and North America, new offerings will include "Tang Poetry Trails" and wellness-focused Eastern retreats.
