If you're in a new place and you're surrounded by things you've never seen before, do you want to learn about them? What would you do? Confucius' approach may provide a reference for you.

Modest and devoted to learning, Confucius never let slip by any opportunity. In the imperial ancestral temple of Lu State, he inquired about everything he saw, arousing a sense that he did not understand courtesy. However, Confucius said you should ask about what you did not understand and "that is 'courtesy'."

So if there's something you don't understand, be brave to ask. That doesn't mean you're rude!
