Hey the World: Unlimited of Greens
Meng Qingyang, the lead dancer of “The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting”, shared her reflections and thoughts about the wonderful dance experience at “Hey, the World!” this summer. “Unlimited of greens” is the theme of her speech. Starting by telling the story of Wang Ximeng, the painter of “A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains”, Meng introduced the importance of two colors—azurite and malachite—both in Chinese traditional landscape painting and in her life. The preparation for the dance show was never easy as they spent numerous time understanding the aesthetic conception of Song dynasty. Being a worldwide hit after the 2021 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Meng thought about the reasons behind it. Performance was one, but the magical gravitation in Chinese culture was the key reason. Since then, she’s been encouraging young people to spread different arts to the world in a more diverse way, to build a better and more harmonious world together.
