The ancient state of Dayuan, present-day Uzbekistan, was Zhang Qian’s first destination during his diplomatic mission to the Western Regions in the Western Han Dynasty. It was also the initial Western Region country to trade with China. Qi and Lena, a Uzbek couple, have been living in China for five years.
