Synopsis:

"Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" tells a poignant and touching love story between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.

Zhu Yingtai disguised as a man to go to school and became friends with Liang Shanbo. They studied together for three years and had a deep friendship. Three years later, Zhu's father urged her to return home, and before she left, she revealed her true feelings to her teacher's wife and asked the matchmaker to betroth her to Liang Shanbo. On the way to see her off, Liang Shanbo was reluctant to part with her, and Zhu Yingtai told him that she had a younger sister at home, and asked him to invite a matchmaker to make a marriage offer as soon as possible.　

When Zhu Yingtai returned home, she was betrothed by her father to Ma Wencai, the son of the governor. When Liang Shanbo learnt that the younger sister was Zhu Yingtai, he came to Zhu Yingtai's house but heard that Zhu Yingtai had been betrothed to Ma's family, so he was heartbroken.

Liang Shanbo returned home, fell ill and died with regrets. When Zhu Yingtai heard it, she went to Liang Shanbo's grave to pay her respects. Suddenly, there was a fierce wind, thunder and lightning, the grave cracked open, and Zhu Yingtai jumped into the grave. In a flash, the two of them turned into colourful butterflies and danced.
