Minor Heat falls between July 6 and 8. This solar term implies that the hot days have begun, but that the hottest are still to come. The plum rain season, aslo known as the mould rain season in some parts of southern China, is about to end, and everything prepares to welcome the hottest summer days. It is a tradition in many places of China to eat jiaozi on this day. Extreme heat often dulls the appetite, which is why jiaozi are perfect for this time of year because they whet the appetite.
